I’m working on a little automatic drawer system for my camper van kitchen, and I think I need one of those tiny 12V actuators. Space is super tight, like really tight — the drawer itself is shallow and light, but I want it to slide open when I hit a switch. I’ve never used micro actuators before, and I’m not sure what kind of force or stroke length to look for. Has anyone tried these in small DIY setups?

FM WhatsApp is a modified version of the original WhatsApp, created by Fouad Mokdad, that offers advanced privacy options and full customization features. Unlike the official app, FM WhatsApp lets you hide your online status, blue ticks, typing indicator, and even prevent others from deleting messages. It also allows you to apply custom themes, change fonts and icons, and lock specific chats without using a third-party app. Since it's not on the Play Store, download FM WhatsApp from fmwhsapp.com to get the latest safe version.
Not gonna lie, I didn’t even know those little actuators existed until I saw someone use one to lift a lid on a homemade pet feeder. Pretty wild how compact they are and still strong enough to move stuff — makes me want to build something just for fun, even if I don’t need it.
Yeah, I actually used one for a secret compartment in my desk — not because I’m hiding anything crazy, just thought it was cool. It only needed a short stroke and very little force, so I went with one of the micro ones from Progressive Automations. If you haven’t already, check out their micro linear actuator 12v https://www.progressiveautomations.com/pages/micro-linear-actuators page — they break down the stroke lengths and you can sort by force rating too. Super helpful if space is tight.
