Governor Itimai Welcomes U.S. Delegation and Admiral Lasky During Courtesy Call

Yap FM - On Monday, September 28, Governor Francis Itimai, accompanied by members of his cabinet, welcomed U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Andrew J. Wylie and his delegation, along with JTF-M Commander Admiral Lasky and his delegation, during a courtesy call held at the Governor’s Conference Room at 10:00 a.m.

Governor Itimai formally welcomed the visiting delegations to Yap State and expressed his willingness to provide assistance should they require any support during their stay.

Following the opening introductions, Governor Itimai turned the floor over to YUMO Task Force Chairman Thomas G. Tun, who addressed community concerns and questions regarding the proposed military Projects in Yap.

During the discussion, Admiral Lasky reassured those in attendance that he is working closely with the U.S. Embassy and the YUMO Taskforce to address concerns raised by the community. He also announced plans to conduct smaller meetings within communities to provide further information and answer questions regarding the proposed projects.

The courtesy call provided an opportunity for the visiting delegations and state leadership to engage in discussions on the proposed Military Projects and the importance of addressing community questions and concerns.

Also in attendance were Director of Planning and Budget Julius Liyon Tun; Director of Resources and Development Bernard Gorong; Director of the Department of Health Services Theo Thinnifel; Assistant Attorney General Antonio Barinisavu and key staff; and Acting Director of the Department of Youth and Civic Affairs John W.K. Fillmed, along with key staff of the YUMO Taskforce.
