PUBLIC NOTICE: YAP U.S. MILITARY OPERATIONS OFFICE

2 min read

Following a recent visit from Rear Admiral Joshua Lasky and U.S. Embassy Chargé d'Affaires

Andrew Wylie, the YUMO Office would like to update the community on the progress of

planned U.S. military construction project activities in Yap State.

These projects are moving forward, and to ensure we are doing this responsibly, the YUMO

Taskforce and our technical experts will be actively participating in several upcoming review

meetings with U.S. Government and Department of War representatives.

During these upcoming sessions, our team will be working alongside U.S. officials to review the

requested defense site areas, equipment storage areas, and temporary laydown areas to resolve any outstanding matters. We will also be joining the U.S. Military technical expert team to carry out a final review of the draft Environmental Impact Statement, focusing on strengthening protections for our island's natural environment, traditions, and community life.

Most importantly, your voice remains central to this work. Our taskforce will be thoroughly

reviewing all the comments, concerns, and recommendations submitted by the public in the

earlier public scoping periods so that your input directly shapes the final safeguard plans.

The YUMO Taskforce is deeply committed to being actively engaged at every step of this

process. We are working hard to ensure everything is carried out the right way, safeguarding our

environment, protecting our culture, and ensuring these efforts serve the mutual benefit and best interests of Yaps people, land and future.

The YUMO Office will continue to keep the public informed as these discussions progress.

Should you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to visit the YUMO

Office, located at the Small Business Conference Building, Room 2, during regular office hours,

Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

You may also contact YUMO Officer Jordan Mautaman by telephone at 350-2053 or via email

at yumo.yapinfo@gmail.com
