Yap FM - Yesterday, June 16th, the AF Project Management Unit shared highlights on its visit to Eauripik in the week of June 01 to deliver construction materials for new water tanks and inspect progress of the water security activities.
The project was pleased to spotlight the incredible women of Eauripik who played a leading role in the stevedoring of materials from the boat to the island. Their proactive engagement alongside the men in the construction of the new water tanks demonstrated their strong commitment to community development and highlighted the vital role women play at the forefront of building community resilience.
The mission to Eauripik also provided an opportunity to distribute WASH activity supplies to the island community, conduct awareness activities on the impacts of climate change, and map the locations of the new water tanks using GPS technology.
The mission team was pleased with the progress of the water tank and well renovation works on the island. These improvements have enabled the Eauripik community to restore and reuse two concrete water tanks that had remained unused for a long period due to structural cracks and an incomplete roofing system. The rehabilitation of these facilities will help improve access to safe and reliable water for the community.
