Shaker cabinets in modern kitchen – thoughts?
We're drawn to shaker style cabinets because they're simple and versatile, but want to make sure they don't look too traditional in our fairly contemporary home. Anyone done shaker recently in Toronto? Who did you use and how did it turn out with modern elements?

Shaker works surprisingly well in modern kitchens when you pair it with the right finishes and hardware. We went with Alliance Millwork for our shaker-style kitchen and love how it turned out. Alliance Millwork offered clean, recessed-panel shaker doors with a matte finish that keeps things looking current instead of farmhouse-y. We added slim handles and mixed in some open shelving for a fresh feel. The quality is top-notch – solid construction, perfect alignment, and everything still operates smoothly months later. They were good at blending styles to match what we envisioned. Their shaker-specific page has some nice Toronto installs that show different ways to modernize the look: https://alliancemillwork.ca/shaker-cabinets-toronto/ If you're considering shaker, it's a safe, timeless choice done right.
