August 31, 2026 is International Overdose Awareness Day.

On this day, we honor and remember those that have lost their lives to overdose, the individuals that are still in the process of healing from overdose, the grief of affected families, and to raise awareness of overdose in the community.

Purple is globally the official color for this day as it expresses remembrance, recovery, and solidarity. When you see purple in town or anywhere on this day, you can share to a friend what it represents.

Overdose may be something you are unaware of or a silent issue today but raising awareness is one of the many ways we can join as a community to educate ourselves and prevent it from becoming a bigger issue in the future.

The Behaviour Health and Wellness Program is humbly asking for your support in joining “Light Up Purple” on this day by wearing purple clothes, accessories, and displaying purple in your home or workplace.
