Yap State Department of Health Services - Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Announcement
The Yap State Department of Health Services is inviting all members of the public, as well as employees of government offices and private business, to come to Yap Memorial Hospital for a FREE Tuberculosis, or TB, screening.
Please come for screening if you have had a cough that lasts two weeks or longer, or if you have any of these symptoms:
Night sweats while sleeping
Unexplained weight loss
Fever
Feeling tired or weak most of the time
You should also come for screening if you have higher chance of getting TB, especially if:
You have lived with or been in close contact with someone who has TB.
You have diabetes
You have kidney disease or liver disease
You have cancer
You are receiving chemotherapy
Or you are taking steroid medicines for a long time, such as for asthma or other medical conditions.
TB can be cured, especially when it is found early. Getting tested is quick, free, and can help protect you, your family, your coworkers, and our community.
