The FSM Adaptation Fund Project continues its outreach to communities in Woleai

Yap FM - Yesterday, August 11th, the FSM Adaptation Fund Project shared key highlights on its continuing outreach efforts in Woleai, Yap State, with a focus on strengthening access to clean drinking water and improving water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices among vulnerable community members.

As part of the ongoing initiative, the project is distributing WASH kits containing essential items such as soap and water kettles to community members. Priority is being given to older persons and people with special needs, who may face disproportionate impacts during climate-related emergencies and extreme weather events.

The distribution is part of the project’s broader efforts to support communities in preparing for the increasing risks associated with intensifying El Niño conditions and other extreme weather events.

Access to safe drinking water and basic hygiene supplies is particularly important during periods of drought, water shortages and other climate-related disruptions. By providing households with practical WASH supplies, the project aims to strengthen community preparedness while promoting healthier and safer living conditions.

The Woleai outreach is one of several activities being implemented by the FSM Adaptation Fund Project to build resilience among its target communities. The initiative places particular emphasis on supporting vulnerable groups and ensuring that adaptation measures reach those most affected by changing climate conditions.
