The Division of Youth Services continues its 2nd Day of the 2026 Youth Summit

Yap FM - Yesterday, August 13th, the Division of Youth Services, in collaboration with the U.S Army and COM-CRE, continued its 2026 Youth Summit with its second day of activities at the Small Business Development Center Conference Room. The full-day event ran from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and brought together more than 80 young people.

The day began with participant registration, followed by light morning refreshments as attendees gathered and prepared for the day's presentations.

The first presentation was delivered by a representative from the College of Micronesia–FSM, Yap Campus, who provided valuable information and awareness about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Participants learned about the benefits of FAFSA and its importance in helping students access financial assistance for higher education.

The second presentation was led by a representative from the Workforce Enrichment Division (WED) under the Department of Resources and Development. The session focused on youth outmigration, highlighting the factors that contribute to young people leaving their communities and the broader impacts of youth migration.

Following a 30-minute lunch break, the final presentation of the day was delivered by a representative from the Yap Historical Preservation Office. The presentation focused on Yapese customs and traditions, emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural knowledge and putting these traditions into practice in everyday life.

To close the event, the participants engaged in fun mini-games, such as “ Count to 10”, “ Whisper Game”, and “People, Tiger, and Human Game”, followed by light snacks for participants to enjoy.

Day Two of the Youth Summit provided participants with meaningful opportunities to learn about education, employment, and workforce issues, youth migration, and cultural preservation. Through these discussions, the summit continues to encourage young people to become informed, engaged, and active contributors to their communities.
