U.S. Coast Guard Band Conducts Musical Outreach at St. Mary’s Elementary School

Yap FM - On Thursday, September 17, the U.S. Coast Guard Band, also known as the Pacific Winds, visited St. Mary’s Elementary School to conduct a musical outreach and cultural engagement activity for students across all grade levels.

The musical performance was held from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and featured six U.S. Coast Guard musicians performing on a range of instruments, including the flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, euphonium, and percussion.

The outreach provided students with an opportunity to experience a live musical performance and learn about different musical instruments in an educational setting. Through the performance, the musicians engaged with students while highlighting the role of music in promoting cultural understanding and community connections.

The visit was conducted as part of efforts to support musical outreach and cultural engagement and to strengthen ties between the United States and the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM).

Students, faculty, and staff of St. Mary’s Elementary School participated in the event and welcomed the Coast Guard musicians to the school. The visit provided a meaningful opportunity for students to engage with visiting musicians and experience a live performance as part of their educational activities.

The U.S. Coast Guard Band’s visit to St. Mary’s Elementary School reflects the value of cultural and educational exchanges in fostering greater understanding and strengthening people-to-people connections between the United States and the FSM.
