Yap State Election Office Provides Constitutional Convention Ballot Specimen Ahead of November 3 Election
Wednesday, October 28, 2026 /// DYCA PIO
Yesterday, October 27th, the Yap State Election Office provided a specimen of the ballot question that will appear during the upcoming General Election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, allowing voters to review the question of whether a constitutional convention should be held to consider amendments to the Yap State Constitution.
The ballot question reads: “Shall there be a convention to amend the Constitution?”
Under Article X, Section 1 of the Yap State Constitution, the question of whether to hold a constitutional convention must be submitted to voters at least once every 10 years. This process allows the public to express its views on whether a convention should be convened to consider possible constitutional amendments.
If a majority of votes cast on the question favors holding a convention, delegates must be selected no later than the next regular state election, as provided under the constitutional provision.
The November 3 ballot question will give Yap State voters the opportunity to indicate whether they support convening a constitutional convention to consider amendments to the Constitution.
