Cabinet Meeting Held at Governor’s Conference Room Wednesday, April 30, 2025, /// DYCA PIO

Yap, FM – A cabinet meeting was held on Thursday, April 24, at the Governor’s Conference Room. Acting Governor Francis Itimai led the meeting, joined by all department directors and key officials.


In attendance were the Director of Public Works and Transportation, Joe C. Giltug he shared the amount of containers, passengers and pounds that came in the last two weeks and other updates on state projects, the Director of Youth and Civic Affairs, Alex Gilfiley mentioned projects that the department have completed such as the Youth Beautification project of wall paintings in the town area. Likewise, he mentioned a training that he requested during the last Joint Committee Meeting in Chuuk State to bring in the US Presidential Secret Service Agents to train the DYCA Protocol Team and the Yap State Police Officer on how to protect and escort and receive VIP’s and off island dignitaries. 


He also emphasized that each director should concentrate on their own department and remain within area of responsibility instead of focusing on another director’s lane and or interfering, Director of Education, Dominic Fanasog Provided an update on a recent trip where he participated in ribbon-cutting ceremonies for the System Transformation Grant, which will fund repairs for all schools on both the main island and the outer islands , Director of Administrative Office Services, Thomas G. Tun gave updates 


about the FMI training, Director of Resources and Development, Bernard Gorong gave updates about what each division under his department is currently working on and what they have completed, a representative from the Department of Health Service, Dominic shares a campaign that it is currently ongoing, and the Acting Attorney General Nominee Viliame Tuinadi Lagonilakeba provided updates regarding the vacancy within the Division of Public Safety.


 He also shared assessments on the need to hire someone to oversee the U.S.-funded projects and mentioned receiving a diplomatic note from the U.S. Embassy concerning the removal of the Micro Spirit. Additionally, Mr. Lagonilakeba respectfully requested the Director of Public Works and Transportation to construct a new restroom for the administration building and to paint a pedestrian crossing between the FSM Supreme Court and the YCA building.


Each department gave updates on their current projects and future plans. They shared what their teams are working on and how these efforts aim to help the people and the state of Yap.


These regular cabinet meetings are important for understanding each department's goals, actions, and how they can work together to improve services and strengthen the state.
