Yap State Department of Health and Services Communicable Disease: Report 42

Yap FM - The Department of Health Services, has issued the Yap Communicable Disease Report for Epidemiological Week 42, covering the period of October 12-18, 2026.

For Diarrhea, Diarrheal cases increased by two this week bringing the total to nine cases, remaining above the Alert threshold. Cases were reported at Main Hospital OPD (5), Gagil CHC (2), Tamil CHC (1), and Lamotrek Dispensary (1). Laboratory testing identified enteric pathogens in four patients.

The laboratory also detected coinfections in three patients, including Salmonella (1), EAEC (3), EPEC (1), and ETEC (3). An additional patient tested positive for adenovirus through rapid diagnostic testing.

Dengue-Like Illness (DLI): Two DLI cases were reported at Main Hospital OPD this week. Four specimens were tested for dengue and leptospirosis, with all results returning negative.

Influenza-Like Illness (ILI): ILI cases decreased by three this week to 16, remaining below the Alert threshold. Cases were reported across five sentinel sites: Gagil CHC and Ifalik Dispensary (4 each), Lamotrek Dispensary (3), Main Hospital OPD (3), and Ulithi Health Center (2). No respiratory specimens were tested during the reporting week.
