Call for Special Election Friday, February 07, 2025, /// DYCA PIO

Yap, FSM –February 6, 2025 – The Yap State Governer has issued a proclamation calling for a special election in Election District 3 (Woleai Atoll) following the departure of Senator John Masiwemai, who concluded his service on December 31, 2024. In accordance with the Yap State Constitution, the vacancy will be filled through a special election scheduled for May 15, 2025.

Voter registration for the election will begin immediately and will close no later than seven days before the election. The nomination period for candidates will open today and will end on February 14, 2025.

This special election will allow voters in Election District 3 to select a new representative for the unexpired term in the 11th Yap State Legislature.
