Yap FM - As of September 8, 2026, 10 new diarrheal cases have been reported, including 4 pediatric outpatients, a 63-year-old admitted at Main Hospital, a 14-year-old from Woleai Health Center, and 4 patients aged 9, 13, 56, and 62, reported by Ifalik Dispensary.
The cumulative total of diarrheal cases is now at 154: OPD Main Hospital (93), Ifalik Dispensary (50), Faraulap (3), Lamotrek (6), Woleai Health Center (1), and Fais (1). An additional 41 Outer Island cases remain indeterminate with no details and are excluded from the cumulative total until details become available.
Laboratory findings identified multiple enteric pathogens—including Rotavirus, Sapovirus, E. coli, Giardia lamblia, and Salmonella—often as co-infections in positive cases.
The accompanying epidemic curve highlights a sharp increase in cases on August 31, followed by fewer encounters in the subsequent days leading up to the date.
