COM-FSM Campus Reinforces Open Admission Policy to Expand Access to Higher Education
Friday, October 30, 2026 /// DYCA PIO
Yap FM - The College of Micronesia-FSM (COM-FSM) promotes access to higher education through its Open Admission Policy, which allows all eligible applicants to enroll. Admission is separate from placement, with assessments used only to determine the most appropriate course level and academic pathway. The College of Micronesia-FSM Placement Test (COMET), once viewed as an entrance exam, now serves solely as a placement tool to help students receive the academic support they need.
This open admission policy is guided by COM-FSM Board Policy No. 4000. Under this policy, admission is non-selective and granted to applicants who meet minimum eligibility requirements, including submitting a completed COM-FSM Application for Admission and one of the following: an official high school transcript or proof of high school graduation, a General Educational Development (GED) certificate, or a HiSET high school equivalency credential.
