Department of Health Services Report: Week 27th Wednesday, July 08, 2025, /// DYCA PIO

Yap, FM - This week, health officials are raising an alert for two illnesses: diarrhea and prolonged fever, as the number of reported cases has passed the usual limit. There were 6 diarrhea cases reported, 4 from the OPD Main Hospital, 1 from Gagil CHC, and 1 from Ifalik Dispensary. Some patients were diagnosed with infections such as gastroenteritis and chronic gastritis. Lab tests found bacteria like E. coli and Shigella, which can cause serious stomach problems.

For prolonged fever, 2 cases were reported at the OPD. One patient had rheumatic fever affecting the heart, and another had body aches and continued weakness. Meanwhile, flu-like illness cases slightly dropped to 7, with common diagnoses like upper respiratory infection and bronchitis, but no flu tests were done this week.

Lab tests also found other infections, including sexually transmitted diseases and serious bacteria such as Vibrio cholera and antibiotic-resistant Klebsiella. Health officials are closely monitoring the situation and encourage the public to stay clean, drink safe water, and see a doctor if symptoms appear.
