Yap, FSM – The Department of Youth and Civic Affairs (DYCA) will be undertaking a significant outreach mission to Fais and Ulithi Islands commencing on January 6, 2025. This multifaceted initiative aims to strengthen community bonds and empower the youth within these outer island communities.
A diverse team comprised of representatives from DYCA's Youth Services, Historic Preservation Office (HPO), Election Office, and Media divisions will travel to the islands. This interdisciplinary approach underscores DYCA's commitment to providing comprehensive and integrated services to all residents of Yap State.
The mission will encompass a series of engaging activities. The team will commence by meeting with local leaders to respectfully convey the purpose of their visit and cultivate collaborative partnerships. Joyful moments will be shared with children through a special visit from Santa Claus and the distribution of candies. Furthermore, the team will actively engage in discussions regarding election registration and youth programs, and historic site surveys, providing valuable information and guidance to the community. To conclude the first day, a community movie night will be held for the enjoyment of both youth and community members.
On January 7th, the team will continue their outreach endeavors in Falalop, Ulithi Island. This day will be dedicated to further community engagement activities and another enjoyable movie night.
On January 8th, the team will shift their focus to the younger generation by visiting local schools. Through interactive games and engaging activities, they will promote youth initiatives and provide valuable information from other divisions within DYCA, such as the Election Office, Historic Preservation Office, and Media.
By empowering the younger generation and delivering valuable services, DYCA aims to contribute significantly to the overall well-being and prosperity of our island communities.
