Yap FM - July 10, 2026 — The Yap State Department of Public Works & Transportation (DPW&T), together with the Upward Bound (UB) Program, successfully carried out an island-wide road maintenance project on Friday, July 10, 2026.
UB staff, student volunteers, and DPW&T employees worked side by side along the island's main road corridor, from the northern to the southern end of Yap. Their teamwork and dedication helped make the road maintenance effort a success while providing students with valuable experience in community service.
The Bank of Guam–Yap Branch supported the project by donating refreshments to keep all participants hydrated throughout the day.
DPW&T Director Joe C. Giltug expressed his appreciation to the UB Director, staff, chaperones, students, and the Bank of Guam for their support and commitment. He noted that this was the fourth successful collaboration between DPW&T and the Upward Bound Program and emphasized the importance of hard work, teamwork, and service to the community.
The department looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Upward Bound Program in future community projects.
