Governor’s Office Holds Courtesy Call with JARRWC Representatives

Yap FM - On September 2, the Yap State Governor’s Office held a courtesy call with representatives from the Japan Association for Recovery and Repatriation of War Casualties (JARRWC) at the Governor’s Conference Room at 10:00 a.m.

The purpose of the courtesy call was for JARRWC representatives to formally pay their respects to the Yap State leadership and introduce the projects they will be conducting in Falalop, Woleai.

During the courtesy call, the JARRWC representatives expressed their sincere appreciation to the Yap State Government for its continued support of their missions, noting that this visit marks their 12th official visit to Yap State.

Governor Francis Itimai stated, “Japan has always been our ally and has shown its support through various projects conducted here in Yap State. Therefore, we extend our assistance in any way we can, as this project involves sensitive recovery efforts.”

The Japan Association for Recovery and Repatriation of War Casualties (JARRWC) was established on July 1, 2016, to promote the recovery and repatriation of war casualties, as well as provide other related services conducted by the Government of Japan. JARRWC also supports efforts to foster understanding among foreign countries regarding recovery activities and to promote international goodwill.

Since August 19, 2016, Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) has designated JARRWC as the only organization authorized to conduct recovery and repatriation activities, under MHLW's guidance and in cooperation with its member institutions.
