Maap Community, in collaboration with the Department of Resources and Development (R&D) and the Department of Youth and Civic Affairs (DYCA), hosted an Appreciation Party after a successful Canoe Laun

Yap FM - This past Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Wacholab in Maap, Community members of Maap, in collaboration with the Department of Resources and Development (RND), the Department of Youth and Civic Affairs (DYCA), and the Yap Visitors Bureau (YVB), hosted an appreciation party. The gathering was organized to recognize the collective efforts that made the recent Yap Day Canoe Festival a success.


Community leaders, organizers, and volunteers came together to celebrate and express gratitude to everyone who contributed their time, effort, and support. Among those present at the recent event were Congressman Andy P. Choor, the Governor, representatives from DYCA and the Department of Resources and Development (R&D), and many community members of Maap. The governor gave a remark to express appreciation for the successful Canoe Launching Festival. Speakers acknowledged the teamwork and dedication that helped host the Canoe Festival during the Yap Day celebrations.


The appreciation party highlighted the strong collaboration between government agencies and the local community. Organizers emphasized that such partnerships play an important role in preserving cultural traditions and strengthening community unity. The event concluded with shared food, fellowship, and continued appreciation for everyone who helped make the Canoe Festival a memorable part of this year’s Yap Day celebration.
