Marine Resource Management Division Advances Coral Reef Monitoring Efforts in YapTuesday, September 10, 2024//Media Division

Yap, FSM - The Marine Resource Management Division, under the Research and Development sector, is pleased to announce the ongoing work in Coral Reef Monitoring, collaborating closely with local communities to conduct comprehensive reef assessments across various marine habitats in Yap's waters.

In a significant step towards enhancing marine management, 29 community-appointed representatives participated in a specialized training session last month for the Blue Prosperity Micronesia Ocean Use Survey. 

This initiative equips community members with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively gather and analyze data on the region's coral reef ecosystems.

The information collected during this survey will play a crucial role in informing future marine management strategies, ensuring the preservation and sustainability of Yap's invaluable marine resources.
