Ongoing fiber duct burial process in Gargey Tomil

Tuesday, March 24, 2026, /// DYCA PIO

Yap FM - This past Saturday, March 21st the Federated States of Micronesia Telecommunications Cable Corporation held a continuation of an ongoing fiber duct burial process in Gargey Tomil at 8:30 am. This process is part of the fiber build-up work currently taking place throughout the island.

The fiber duct burial process in the Federated States of Micronesia is a critical component of the Digital FSM initiative and Fiber-to-the-home ( FTTH) project aimed at replacing old copper infrastructure with durable, high-speed, and resilient connectivity.

The purpose of burying these ducts is to protect delicate glass fiber strands from harsh environmental conditions, enable future network expansion without re-excavation, and deliver high-speed, reliable internet to households, businesses, and government offices.
