The Yap Environmental Protection Agency and the Yap State Public Service Corporation (YSPSC)
advise the public that the shipment of water treatment supplies originally scheduled to arrive in June
22 has been delayed. The supplies are now anticipated to arrive in Yap toward the end of July.
Until the supplies arrive and YSPSC completes the necessary treatment of the water system, the
public is advised to continue following the recommendations provided in the initial public advisory:
Boil all tap water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, and washing dishes.
Bring water to a rolling boil for at least one full minute.
Let the water cool completely before use.
Store boiled water in clean, covered containers.
Yap EPA and YSPSC will continue to monitor the situation closely. If there are any changes to the
anticipated arrival date of the supplies, the public will be notified promptly. An additional
announcement will also be issued once the supplies have arrived and YSPSC has completed
treatment of the water system. At that time, the public will be informed when the advisory has been
lifted.
Yap EPA and YSPSC appreciate the public's continued patience, understanding, and cooperation as we work together to protect public health and ensure the safety of the community's drinking water.
Safe Water Alternatives
Water retailers are SAFE: Water purchased from all local commercial water refilling stations does not require boiling.
Duration
This advisory remains in effect until the new supplies are received, full treatment is restored, and the
Yap EPA officially announces that the public water is safe to consume.
Thank you for your immediate cooperation and patience.
