This week, health officials have issued alerts for two illnesses, diarrhea and prolonged fever after an increase in reported cases. A total of 7 diarrhea cases were reported from several health centers, pushing the number above the alert level. One case was from the Main Hospital and others from Ulithi, Gagil, Fais, Eauripik, and Tegailap.
There were also 2 cases of prolonged fever from the Main Hospital. One patient had persistent fever, while the other had high fever, stomach pain, and vomiting, possibly linked to overuse of Tylenol. Neither case was confirmed by lab tests.
In addition, 2 dengue-like cases and 5 flu-like cases were reported, but they remain below the alert threshold. No cases were reported for acute fever with rash, severe respiratory infections, or unusual events. Lab tests this week found infections including Chlamydia, Hepatitis B, E. coli, and Cryptosporidium. The public is encouraged to stay alert, practice good hygiene, and seek medical care if symptoms appear.
