Yap FM - Around 11am today, Super Typhoon Bavi strengthened into a Category 5-equivalent storm as it tracked between Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), bringing destructive winds, torrential rain, dangerous storm surge, and flash flooding.
The eye passed near Rota, while Guam, Saipan, and Tinian experienced severe weather conditions. Officials declared a State of Emergency in Guam, opened emergency shelters, and urged residents to remain indoors as the storm moved through the region.
After impacting the Marianas, Bavi continued westward across the western Pacific, becoming one of the strongest tropical cyclones of the 2026 season.
