Yap FM - On February 3, 2026, the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Program, Division of Public Health and collaborating partner programs administered the 2026 Rapid High School Survey to 97 students at Yap Catholic Highschool from grades 9 to12.
The four survey teams took only 30 minutes to complete all four grades. The collaborating partner programs included staff from the Cancer Program, Family Planning Program, Behavioral Health and Wellness Program, Pacific Islands Health Officers Association Fellows, College Of Micronesia-Federated States of Micronesia, Yap Area Health Education Center Scholar, and the STI Program.
The same survey was also conducted on January 21, 2026, at the Faith Christian Academy school with 29 high school students and the Seventh Day Adventist school with 15 high school students.
Plans are being made to survey the Yap High School students and the Neighboring Island high school students soon.
The Rapid Highschool Survey is an anonymous survey that measures each student’s height and weight and asks them 14 risk behavior questions relating to tobacco, alcohol and vape use, mental health and sexual health status. The survey is done every two years. The last high school survey done in Yap was 2023/2024.
