The Division of Youth Services held a Youth Hiking Event

Yap FM - This past Saturday, April 18th, the Division of Youth Services under the Department of Youth and Civic Affairs held a Youth Hiking Event which started at St. Mary’s School to Windmill Site on Madeadeq hill.
This event started at 9:00 am at the St.Mary’s School Field with the registration of participants, followed by a Japanese warm-up exercise demonstrated by a JICA Volunteer who works under the Division of Youth Services, Kenta Ostubo.
After the warm-up exercise, the youth participants started the hike, led by the Youth Awareness Officer, Ms. Slatelynna Legalishyaro.
Around 9:30 am, the youth Participants reached halfway up the trail, where some of the Youth Committee Members were passing out water to any participants who needed to stop and hydrate themselves before continuing the hike.
Around 10:00 am, the youth participants reached the windmill site, where everyone stopped to rest and enjoy the scenery before making their way back to St.Mary’s School Field.
After a quick break, everyone gathered together for a group photo before initially heading back to the starting point.
Around 11:00 a.m., the youth participants reach the St.Mary’s School Field, marking the completion of the Youth Hiking Event.
After everyone had settled in, refreshments and cold drinks were provided, followed by a raffle drawing.
After the raffle drawing, prizes such as school supplies, water bottles, and hats were passed out to both the winner of the raffle drawing and to everyone who participated in the Youth Hiking Event.
In the end, the event turned out to be a huge success with the help of the Youth Planning Committee, Oasis Bakery, and St.Mary’s Elementary School; the event gathered a total of over 60 participants from all over the island.
