Yap FM - On Saturday, June 20, the Division of Youth Services hosted a Youth Beach Volleyball Tournament at Pine Bar and Grill from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. As part of the summer season activities, the event brought together young athletes for a day of friendly competition, teamwork, recreation, and environmental stewardship in a fun beachside setting.
The event began with the registration of participants, followed by a brief introduction and safety briefing conducted by Youth Awareness Officer Slatelynna L. Leglishyaro. During the introduction, participants were informed of the tournament rules, safety guidelines, and the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the event.
Following the briefing, Ms. Leglishyaro led the youth participants on a lagoon cleanup activity, where they collected nonbiodegradable debris from the surrounding area. This environmental initiative encouraged participants to take an active role in protecting and preserving their local environment while promoting community responsibility.
After returning to Pine Bar and Grill, the Youth Beach Volleyball Tournament officially began, with more than four teams competing throughout the day. Participants demonstrated enthusiasm, teamwork, and athletic skill as they engaged in a series of friendly and competitive matches.
At the end of the tournament, the Division of Youth Services presented awards to the winning teams, the best lineman, and the MVP, with new volleyballs, hats, and water bottles.
