Yap FM - On August 26, the JICA Micronesia Office shared insights on its recent visit to the Lamer Community to officially introduce a new Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer (JOCV), Mr. MASHITA, who will be working in the field of Community Development.
Mr. MASHITA expressed his commitment to contributing to the community, saying he looks forward to working closely with the people of Lamer and giving his full effort to his activities.
Lamer Community Representative Mr. Eric Gumoon warmly welcomed Mr. MASHITA and said he plans to introduce the volunteer to villagers next week. This will be followed by discussions with community members to develop an action plan for his assignment.
Mr. Alexander YowBlaw, Deputy Director of the Yap State Government’s Department of Resource Development, also welcomed the volunteer’s arrival. He highlighted the importance of the assignment, particularly as the government supports the construction of a convention center in Lamer to promote Yapese culture, attract visitors, and support community development.
