For Yapese Residing Outside of Yap State
A person contacts the Yap State Election Office to register his interest in casting a ballot by absentee.
Person gives his name and date of birth and the name of his village and municipality or island and atoll. A voter residing outside the State of Yap must provide a copy of his valid FSM passport.
The Office searches the Yap State Register to determine if the person is a registered voter.
The Office gets back to the interested person to inform him whether he is already a registered voter and therefore is eligible to vote. Only students can register to vote while outside Yap State. Any other person cannot, by law.
If the person is a registered voter, we provide the correct name and date of birth in the system and a Request for Absentee Ballot form for him to fill out and email or airmail it back to the office.
An absentee ballot will be airmailed to the voter to mark and airmail it back to Yap to reach Yap post office on or before election day.
