Yap FM - Yap Communicable Disease Report for Epidemiological Week 35, covering the period of August 24-30, 2026. This report presents a comprehensive overview of syndromic trends and activities from 23 sentinel sites across the state, including laboratory‑confirmed cases, public health updates, and recommendations.
Total Encounters: 541 patient encounters were reported across sentinel sites, with Diarrhea on Alert status for the second consecutive week.
Diarrhea (On Alert): Unusual increase detected; on Alert Status for two weeks, with 5 sentinel sites reporting cases, with a concentration of cases in Ifalik and Elato islands. Laboratory results demonstrated circulation of multiple enteric pathogens but did not establish the etiology of the overall increase in cases.
Influenza-Like Illness (ILI): ILI continued to increase this week, but remained below threshold status with a total of 21 cases reported by 5 sentinels: OPD Main Hospital (8), Ulithi Health Center (5), Eauripik Dispensary (2), Elato Dispensary (5), and Lamotrek Dispensary (1). Lab reported 0 tests done for respiratory illness this week.
Dengue-like Illness (DLI): OPD reported 2 DLI diagnoses this week. Lab results show 0 positive results for both dengue and leptospirosis this week.
Total Syndromic Cases: 93 cases reported across sentinel sites.
