Yap FM - As the summer season gets underway, the Rising Program and the On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program officially commenced on June 5, providing valuable opportunities for youth and students to gain meaningful work experience and develop essential career skills.
Participants in both programs have been assigned to positions that best match their interests, qualifications, and preferences they selected during the application process. The placements are intended to ensure that each participant receives a productive and rewarding experience while contributing to their respective workplaces.
Launched in June 2025 under the Department of Youth and Civic Affairs, the Rising Program was created to support out-of-school youth by providing pathways to workforce participation and professional development. Through hands-on work experience, participants have the opportunity to build practical skills, strengthen their work ethic, and gain exposure to various career fields. Upon completion of the program, the Division of Youth Services assists participants in planning their next steps, whether that involves returning to school, pursuing additional training, or continuing their career development in the workforce.
The On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program, administered by the Department of Resources and Development, serves students who are currently enrolled in school and seeking practical workplace experience. The program allows participants to apply what they have learned in the classroom to real-world work environments while gaining valuable professional knowledge, workplace competencies, and positive work values. These experiences help prepare students for future employment opportunities and strengthen their readiness to enter the workforce.
Together, the Rising Program and OJT Program reflect a continued commitment to youth development and workforce readiness. By providing participants with practical experience and growth opportunities, both programs play an important role in preparing the next generation for educational, professional, and personal success.
As participants begin their summer placements, they embark on a journey of learning, skill-building, and career exploration that will help shape their future goals and aspirations.
