ANNOUNCEMENT: The U.S. Department of War, in partnership with the Federated States of Micronesia and Yap State, is planning improvements to the Yap International Airport and Yap Seaport.

To promote the protection of the environment, the Department of War has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Statement. This study looks at potential impacts and ways to minimize them. You can help shape this process!

A public meeting to provide an overview of the draft environmental impact statement and receive public comments will be held at the Small Business Development Center Conference Room on April 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Yap Time.

Additional public meetings may be scheduled for later the same week in Dalipebinaw, Fanif, Rull, Tamil, and Weloy. Exact dates, times, and locations will be announced when they are confirmed. A copy of the full public notice with instructions for commenting and requesting additional meetings can be found in the April 8th edition of the Kaselehlie Press and posted at various locations around Colonia and nearby municipalities.

(For more information, please visit the project website at ww.nepa.navy.mil/yapeis.

Comments on the draft EIS are welcome through May 29th, 2026 (Yap Time).)
