Yap FM - On April 14, 2026, the Yap State Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had a mission to Woleai Atoll to undertake water quality tests on existing water tanks and the newly installed water tanks by the AF Project. The mission is one of Yap EPA’s mandates on pollution control and monitoring of water quality in the communities.
Due to limited time and transportation, the mission had only two hours to carry out the work. Consequently, the mission was only able to undertake water testing on nine water tanks. Nevertheless, the mission was able to report conditions of the sample water tanks and issued advice and recommendations to the communities on ways to keep their water tanks safe and
measures to take before consuming the water in the tanks.
Pollution control and monitoring of water quality in the water tanks on Woleai and other project sites are one of the top priorities of the AF Project to ensure the rainwater in the tanks is clean and safe.
