The Yap State Legislature held its 6th Session of the 4th Regular Session

Yap FM - Earlier today, February 26th, the Yap State Legislature held its 6th Session Day of the 4th Regular Session at the Yap State Legislature Chamber at 10:00 am. In attendance were Speaker Nicholas Figirlaarwon, Vice Speaker Theodore (Ted) Rutun, Floor Leader Terrence Fong, Senator Ann-Marie Laamar, Senator Pius Talimeisei, Senator Victor Bamog, Senator Gabriel Ramoloilug, Senator Liyon Sulog, Senator John Mafel, Senator John Taweriyan, Chief Clerk Dee N. N. Libian, and the Legislative Counsel, Genevieve M. Mangefel.
They began the session with the adoption of the 4th Session Day Journal of the 4th Regular Session. Followed by messages from the other branches of the State of Yap Government, including Other Branches Communication No.11-144: A copied letter from the Council of Tamol Chairman Marlul addressed to Governor Itimai requesting approval of the Council’s nomination of Senator Andrew Yatilman to join the YUMO taskforce.
They then introduced the introduction of resolutions, including Resolution No.11-152: A resolution, Confirming Mary E. Layan as Associate Justice of the State Court of Yap, Resolution No.11-153:A Resolution, Requesting the Governor of the State of Yap, with consensus of the leadership, to formally direct the Yap United States Military Operations (YUMO) Task Force to include discussions and negotiations for a new seagoing vessel for the State of Yap.
They also did the adoption of the Bill Calendar, including Bill No. 11-175, D1: For Second Reading, A Bill for an Act, To appropriate the sum of $144,252.00 from the Special Revenue Fund of the State of Yap for the purpose of funding the Yap Cooperative Forestry program in the Department of Resources and Development during Fiscal Year 2026, Bill No.11-197, D1: For Second Reading, A Bill for an Act. To appropriate the sum of $60,235.00 from the Special Revenue Fund of the State of Yap for the purpose of funding the public health program in the Department of Health Services, starting Fiscal Year 2026, Bill No.11-198, D1: For Second Reading, A Bill for an Act, To appropriate the sum of $64,700 from the Special Revenue Fund of the State of Yap for the purpose of funding the public health programs in the Department of Health Services, Bill No. 11-199: For Second Reading, A Bill for an Act, To appropriate $17,700.00 from the General Fund of the State of Yap for the purpose of providing funding to fund the Micronesian Seminar Library (Miscem) during Fiscal Year 2026, Bill No.11-200: For Second Reading, A Bill for an Act, To appropriate the sum of $386,508.00 from the General Fund of the State of Yap for the purpose funding to Yap Investment Trust to use for defraying expenses of Diving Seagull, Inc., and Bill No.11-201: For Second Reading, A Bill for an Act, To appropriate the sum of $1,452,609.00 from the General Fund of the State of Yap for the purpose of funding the purchase of government equipment during Fiscal Year 2026.
They also adopted the Resolution Calendar, including Resolution No.11-153: A Resolution, Requesting the Governor of the State of Yap, with the consensus of the leadership, to formally direct the Yap United States Military Operations (YUMO) Task Force to include discussions and negotiations for a new seagoing vessel for the State of Yap. Also including Petitions, Memorials, and communications, which includes Miscellaneous Communication No. 11-125: A letter addressed to Governor Itimai and Speaker Figirlaarwoon from Lee Pliscou, Executive Director, Micronesian Legal Services Corporation, requesting consideration of an additional supplement of $48,336.00 to avoid layoffs of staff in the office.
