Yap FM - Yesterday, May 27th, the Yap Visitors Bureau shared information on the International Visitor Survey Report from January to December 2025. The 2025 January – December International Visitor Survey is an initiative of the Pacific Tourism Data Initiative, funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (NZMFAT), and is conducted by the Pacific Tourism Organization (SPTO).

The report includes key sections on visitor profiles and characteristics, information and decision -making, visitor expenditure, and satisfaction.

The survey analyzed 37 responses representing a 2% response* rate. Among the respondents, 35 % were first-time visitors, and the average household income ranged between USD 100,001 and USD 150,000.

Visitors’ primary purposes of visit during this period were business trips, conferences, or attending meetings, visiting family and friends, and holiday and leisure. Overall satisfaction rate was 3.7 out of 5, with 81% of visitors likely to recommend Yap to others and 91% expressing willingness to return.

The average prepaid spending per visitor was USD 2,233, with an estimated 40 % (USD 893 ) flowing into the local economy. In-country spending per visitor per trip averaged USD 550 with an average stay of 7.6 nights. This contributed to an estimated** economic impact of USD 3.4 million from January to December 2025.

Visitors particularly appreciated the friendliness of locals, the cleanliness of the island, and the overall level of service. However, areas needing improvement included tourist information, airport and flight services, and the quality of restaurants and cafés. To further enhance the visitor experience in Yap, suggestions included improving public transport, infrastructure, and Wi -Fi connectivity, upgrading certain activities, cultural tours, and entertainment, and ensuring up -to -date tourist information is readily available.
