Yap FM - Last week, Thursday, April 23rd, in continuation of the Traditional Weaving and Fish Trap workshops, the Yap Workforce Enrichment Division conducted Traditional Fish Trap Training at a training site in Maap.
This workshop included a trainer and six active trainees who are deep into the intricate process of building traditional fish traps.
According to the Yap Workforce Enrichment Division, the trainees have officially moved past the foundational stage and are making steady progress on the structural integrity of their traps:
The trainees have so far completed the floor of the traps, and are currently weaving the side and top walls of the Traditional Fish Trap. The upcoming phase involves crafting the entrance (opening), followed by the final step of completing the end walls.
Despite the complexity of the knots and the precision required, the trainees remain on track and are moving forward with great momentum.
