Invest 92W is currently centered west of Yap Proper and northeast of the main islands of Palau, near latitude 9.6N and longitude 136.5E. At this time, 92W is classified as a sub-low, indicating that significant tropical development is not expected in the short term. However, moderate to deep convection is occurring near the system, particularly across Yap Proper.
92W is expected to continue organizing as it moves northwestward. There is potential for this system to strengthen into a tropical depression or tropical storm as it exits the Area of Responsibility (AOR) by the weekend and approaches the northern Philippines.
Forecast Outlook:
Residents should anticipate heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms throughout the remainder of the week. Wind gusts may reach up to 30 mph near showers, and seas will be choppy.
All residents and mariners are advised to stay informed of the latest weather updates and exercise caution during this period of unsettled weather.
