Yap FM - Tropical Storm Hagupit Advisory #12A was issued today, May 9th, around 5:32 am. The following message is from the Yap State Disaster Coordinating Office.
TROPICAL STORM HAGUPIT MOVING WEST-NORTHWEST
TS Hagupit was located...8.7N 137.0E:
About 45 miles northwest of Ngulu
About 90 miles southwest of Yap
About 210 miles west-southwest of Ulithi
About 235 miles west of SoroAbout 250 miles west-southwest of Fais
Movement: West-Northwest at 275 degrees at 9 mph
Maximum sustained winds: 40 mph
Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Ngulu and Yap Proper.
A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions,
Including winds of 39 to 73 mph, are expected within 24 hours.
TS Hagupit's maximum sustained wind remains at 40 mph, moving west at 9 mph.
Hagupit is expected to make a slight turn toward the west-northwest with little change in forward speed through Sunday as it passes through Yap proper. Hagupit is forecast to maintain this intensity through Sunday, remaining a tropical storm.
