Yap FM- Tropical Storm Hagupit Advisory #12 was issued today, May 9th, around 3:16 am. The following message is from the Yap State Disaster Coordinating Office.

At 1:00AM TS Hagupit was located 8.8 N 137.8 E

About 40 miles north-northeast of Ngulu

About 50 miles south-southwest of Yap

About 160 miles west-southwest of Ulithi

About 185 miles west-northwest of Sorol

About 195 miles west-southwest of Fais

Movement: West at 275 degrees at 9 mph

Maximum sustained winds: 40 mph

Tropical Storm Warning for Fais and Ulithi has been cancelled.

Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Ngulu and Yap proper in Yap State.

A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions, including winds of 39 to 73 mph, are expected within 24 hours.

TS Hagupit is expected to make a slight turn toward the west-northwest with a little change in forward speed. It is forecast to maintain this intensity through Saturday, remaining a tropical storm as it passes through or just south of Yap proper overnight.
