Today at 1:30 PM, a U.S. delegation, including the U.S Ambassador Jennifer Johnson and the Pacific fleet Commander Stephen Koehler as well and the rest of their delegation arrived in Yap on a private jet. They came to meet with Yap State Leadership, which consists of the 4 branches of Government of the state of Yap and cabinet members.
The main focus of the meeting was to discuss the Operational Control Letter and its components of agreement, which are key topics in the partnership between the U.S. and Yap State.
The meeting began with a warm welcome from the Acting Governor Thomas G. Tun, who thanked the visitors for coming and expressed how grateful Yap State is to receive such honored guests.
Furthermore, The Director of the Department of Youth and Civic Affairs introduced the Yap State entire Yap State Leadership who were present to include the Speaker of the 11th Yap State Legislature and its members, Chairman of the Council of Tamol, Cabinet members, and the Mayor of the Municipality of Rull and other members of the Yapese Community.
This visit reflects the strong relationship between the U.S. and Yap State and their shared commitment to continued cooperation. The commencement will end tonight with a dinner hosted by the Admiral hosting Yap State Leaders.
