U.S. Military Presents Project Overview Monday, May 19, 2025, /// DYCA PIO

Yap, FM— Today at 10:00 AM, there was a meeting at the Governor's Conference Room. Members of Yap State Government, the FSM National Government, and the U.S. Government, including the U.S. military, were in attendance.

The U.S. military presented an overview and design projects they planned to carry out in Yap. These projects include improving the port, improving roads, and other infrastructure projects. They want to ensure that the Projects are safe, environmentally friendly, and beneficial to Yap State.

Some of the things that were also discussed included: 

• Making the port bigger and safer for large ships

• Protecting the environment and talking with the community

• Working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to look at roads and bridges in June 2025

• Training for local personnel

• Planning for the airport extension and warehouses at the dock area

All agreed to work together and be transparent about ideas, feedback and concerns. These projects will start after the designs are finalized  later this year.
