Waab Taguw Day (aka World Tuna Day) Activities Announced for August 31st and September 1st

Yap, FSM – The core members of Waab Taguw Day, also known as World Tuna Day, are gearing up for a lineup of youth and community activities. Chairman Alexander YowBlaw, Deputy Director at R&D, and Vice-Chairman John Waayan Fillmed, Youth Division Chief at DYCA, along with Department of Education Charles Yilaarow and PIO Jovanna Nabetam, are organizing a series of youth activities to celebrate the occasion.


Scheduled for August 31st and September 1st, the festivities will include a swimming competition, art and poetry contests, a video-clip contest, coconut grinding and husking competitions, musical chairs, balloon popping games, boat race, and the Waab Taguw Day Fishing Derby.


These activities are open to all schools in Yap State, inviting students to form teams and compete on behalf of their schools. Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners.

We encourage all students and the general public to participate and showcase their talents in these fun and engaging events.
