Yap Communicable Disease Report: Week 34

Yap FM - Yap Communicable Disease Report for Epidemiological Week 34, covering the period of August 17-23, 2026. This report presents a comprehensive overview of syndromic trends and activities from 23 sentinel sites across the state, including laboratory‑confirmed cases, public health updates, and recommendations.


Total Encounters: 477 patient encounters were reported across sentinel sites, with Diarrhea on Alert status this week.


Diarrhea (On Alert): Diarrheal cases increased to 21 cases, reported by OPD Main Hospital (2), Nimgil CHC (2), Falalis Dispensary (4), Woleai Health Center (8), Faraulap Dispensary (1), and Elato Dispensary (4). The laboratory reported a total of 4 patients confirmed for E. coli, including 2 co-infections with viral infections, 1 with Adenovirus 40/41, and the other with Rotavirus A.


Influenza-Like Illness (ILI): An increase in ILI is observed this week but remains below threshold, with a total of 14 cases reported by OPD Main Hospital (6), Ulithi Health Center (2), and Eauripik Dispensary (6). The lab reported 0 tests done for respiratory illness this week.


Dengue-like Illness (DLI): OPD reported 1 DLI diagnosis this week. The lab reported another patient who tested positive for leptospirosis this week.

Total Syndromic Cases: 36 cases reported across sentinel sites.
