Yap FM - Yap Communicable Disease Report Week 8, of 2026, covering the period from February 16, 202,6 to February 22, 2026. The Communicable Disease Report offers a summary of significant syndromic trends and activities reported from 23 sentinel sites throughout the state, including laboratory-confirmed cases as well as public health updates and recommendations.
Syndrome count, and reporting Sites:
Dengue Like Illness (DLI) – Dengue Like Illness (DLI) - This week, a total of 5 DLI cases were reported by Satawal Dispensary. A lab report indicated 0 (zero) tests conducted on dengue and leptospirosis this week.
Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) – ILI continued to decrease with a total of 4 cases reported this week, 3 by OPD Main Hospital and 1 by Ifalik Dispensary.
Diarrhea – OPD Main Hospital reported 3 diarrheal cases this week, with an undiagnosed case testing for 2 pathotypes of diarrheal pathogens.
This week, OPD Main Hospital reported 7 cases of Hand Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD), all of whom are children aged 1 to 6 years of age.
The 3 Sentinel Sites reporting syndromic cases are the OPD Main Hospital, Ifalik Dispensary, and Satawal Dispensary.
Public Health Updates:
A Public Health Advisory has been issued for public awareness and recommendations on suspect Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease in the community.
Public Announcement and Travel Advisory have been issued for awareness on Dengue cases in Chuuk and Pertussis cases reported by Guam and Pohnpei.
