Yap Governor Urges Immediate Action on Delayed Priority Infrastructure Projects in Yap StateWednesday, December 18, 2024/// DYCA PIO

Yap, FM -” I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and disappointment with the lack of response to my communication dated November 6, 2024,” said Governor Charles S. Chieng in a letter to His Excellency FSM President Wesley Simina dated November 27, 2024.

The Yap State Government is raising concerns about the delays in important priority infrastructure projects, such as the Ganir Bridge and the northern roads in Tamil and Gagil municipalities with groundbreaking schedule for December this year, 2024. It has now been 105 days since the bidding for these projects closed, leaving residents frustrated and businesses struggling to stay afloat because of the bad road conditions and the closed bridge. Still to date without any communication or collaboration from the FSM Government, specifically DTC&I and other relevant National offices.

The Governor stressed how important these priority projects are for the economy environment and the well-being of the people and community in the State of Yap. He is urging the national government to be open and communicate quickly about the progress and facilitation of these important priority infrastructure projects for the betterment of the State of Yap and the FSM nation as a whole.

The state government wants to work together with the FSM National Government to make sure these important priority projects move forward as planned.
