Yap State Continues to Observe “World No Tobacco Day”

Yap FM - Yesterday, May 31st, in light of World Tobacco Day, all local and foreign businesses were not permitted to sell any tobacco products throughout the whole day. This initiative was first practiced in 2018, with the support of the Yap State Governor, a proclamation was issued for Yap State in observance of the global day.
Since then, Yap State has been observing this global celebration every year, aiming to spread awareness about the deadly health risks of tobacco consumption and to encourage individuals to quit smoking or chewing tobacco.
World No Tobacco Day also highlights the environmental damage caused by tobacco production and waste, and pushes organizations to enforce strong tobacco control policies.
