Yap State DOE Concludes Successful 2026 Micronesian Teachers Education Conference

Yap FM - The Yap State Department of Education successfully hosted the 2026 Micronesian Teachers Education Conference (MTEC), bringing together educators, school leaders, and education stakeholders from across the Federated State of Micronesia for three days of professional learning and collaboration.
Wednesday, July 1, through Friday, July 3, 2026, the conference featured presentations centered on the theme, "Strengthening Indigenous Culture and Language for Lifelong Learning." The conference officially opened on Wednesday with a Welcome Reception hosted by the Yap State Department of Education, where delegates, guests, and education partners gathered to celebrate the beginning of the three-day event and strengthen professional relationships through fellowship and cultural exchange. The sessions provided participants with opportunities to strengthen teaching practices, exchange innovative ideas, and discuss strategies for improving educational outcomes throughout the FSM.
As host of the 2026 conference, the Yap State Department of Education welcomed participants from across the FSM, along with international partners and educational institutions, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening education through professional development, collaboration, and the sharing of best practices.
The conference concluded on Friday with a Closing Reception, where delegates from each FSM state reflected on their experiences, exchanged gifts, and presented cultural performances showcasing their traditions. During the program, Chuuk State was officially announced as the host of the 2028 Micronesian Teachers Education Conference. The event highlighted the shared commitment of educators to improving education while preserving the region’s cultures and languages for future generations.
