Yap, FM - The Eleventh Legislature of the State of Yap held its 16th session day for the Third Regular Session earlier today, July 4, 2025, at 10:00 A.M.
The meeting began with a call to order, a moment of silent prayer, roll call, and the review and approval of previous session journals.
The Legislature received many communications from Acting Governor Itimai. These included updates on the state funeral for the late honorable Governor Charles S. Chieng and the late Senator Kensley K. Ikosia. The Acting Governor also shared updates on grants, state visits, the Yap High School Project, and nominations for various positions. Important grant funding from the U.S. and international partners was reported for health, family planning, and agriculture programs.
New bills were introduced, including:
Funding for the Waab Community Health Center,
SPREP grant for agriculture,
U.S. grant for family planning,
Hosting funds for the 4th Micronesian Expo.
Resolutions were also introduced and discussed, such as:
Increasing the Attorney General's salary,
Confirming Martina Reichhardt to the Health Services Board,
Sending condolences for the passing of the late honorable Governor Chieng.
Reports from committees recommended that several bills move forward for discussion and approval.
